This Edinburgh sightseeing walk will be about one hour. It will take you past some of the most historic places north of North Bridge. Walking down Thistle Street you will see many good restaurants while the Museums and Galleries are just down at York Place. As you walk along on York place you will arrive at Picardy Place. Here you can carry on straight toward the Playhouse Theatre or turn left towards the Botanical Gardens.
A place to stay
If you walk straight you will walk past the Holiday Inn Express. I used to work here for two years as a receptionist and a barman. See the place in the video below. Past the Playhouse and Planet Out turn right and walk up the hill past the small church towards the big stone buildings with those sombre facades. This is the Royal Terrace. From here you will have nice views over Leith and London Road. About five minutes along Royal Terrace and down a small mound is Easter Road. Scroll down to watch the video and to find the map.
