Air France AF256 – Paris to Singapore Flight Review

Air France AF256 Review

My Air France AF256 flight to Singapore from Paris was on board a brand new Airbus A380 double decker, departing at 2320PM from Paris Charles de Gaulle and arriving in Singapore Changi Airport at 0730AM in the morning.

The ticket for the Air France AF256 flight from Paris to Singapore cost GBP575 return, flying out on a Friday and back on a Sunday three weeks later. I flew to Paris on an Air France connecting flight from London Heathrow, which arrived just in time to catch the AF256 flight to Singapore.

Tip: Try and book a seat near the emergency door to get more legroom

Finding Heathrow Airport

I took a private hire car to Heathrow but if you are coming from central London you can take the tube or Heathrow Express. There are also many bus services serving Heathrow Airport, dropping you off at Heathrow Central Bus Station. From that bus station you can walk to terminals 1,2,3 or take the tube and train to terminals 4 and 5.

Checking In To AF256 And The Connecting Flight

I checked into the flight online and I was travelling with hand luggage only so for me it was pretty quick. It also made the transfer quicker and less stressful as I did not need to worry about my luggage getting lost in transfer.

Transferring at Charles de Gaulle Airport

Onboard AF256

The Security Checks at Charles de Gaulle were pretty quick and took less than 30 minutes to transfer so there was nothing to worry about there either. The plane from London landed a little delayed but there were people waiting at the gate and they escorted all of us to the transfer terminal.

The transfer is very straightforward: you go through the usual security checks then walk to your departure terminal and wait for your connecting flight to board.

On-Board The Air France AF256 Flight to Singapore

For me this was the first time flying on an Airbus 380 and I must say I really enjoyed it! The windows seemed bigger than on a usual flight and there seemed to be far more legroom too. The seats were more comfortable too and they felt leaner but much fancier at the same time – a bit difficult to describe. The lighting was also more easy on the eyes and I felt much more relaxed straight away.

AF256 Flight Itinerary

The other passengers seemed to get on with boarding as well, not blocking the gangway and sitting down much faster. I suppose it is because the plane feels much less cluttered.

As soon as I sat down I could listen to music or check out the entertainment system and once we took off the food was served very soon. As it was a late night flight I fell asleep very soon. I was sitting by the window so I did not need to get up for any passenger which worked out perfectly as I was very tired.

Tip: If you fly long-haul and you know there is enough legroom just get a window seat or a good night sleep

On-board Facilities On AF256

Food Onboard AF256

They served drinks and food on board and there was the option of getting more drinks even after dinner was served. They also offered free snacks if you went to the back so it was a good flight.

On-Board Toilet

There were several toilets and they were all bigger than the usual size toilets on other long-haul flights. Obviously they were not as restrained as on other planes.

Overall Impressions

I have to admit I really enjoyed flying on the AF256 to Singapore, especially that it was the new Airbus A380 which made it an even more relaxing affair. Although I flew in economy it felt more like premium economy on other flights and yet the price came in at a comfortable GBP575 return.
