El Al Israel Airlines has just announced the launch of a new route from Manchester in England to Tel Aviv in Israel. Manchester has a sizeable Jewish population so this new El Al flight will make their lives a lot easier because they won’t need to track all the way down to London for a flight to Israel.
The Manchester to Tel Aviv Route
The new route from Manchester to Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv is scheduled to start on 26 May 2019. The flights will operate three times per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) on a Boeing 737-800, offering two classes of service in business and economy cabins.
El Al has released an introductory offer for bookings made until 26 November:
- Economy Class – From £199 – One Way –hand baggage only
- Economy Class – From £289 – Return –hand baggage only
- Business Class – From £929 – Return
I am sure it will be a successful route given that Israel has an amazingly sunny climate whereas the exact opposite is true for Manchester!
The new flights will make it possible for northerners to fly to sunny Israel where the government is currently running a promotion called “Two Cities, One Break”. This program showcases the highlights of both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem – quintessential Israeli cities only an hour apart!

Things to Do In Israel
In Jerusalem you can embrace the nearly 6,000 year history of Israel, checking out the Western Wall, David’s cisterns, the old town and Mount Herzl with great views over the city.
In Tel Aviv you can soak up the sun by the beach in the many amazing hotels (I stayed at the Renaissance), cycling or walking down the beach and sampling many of the foods on offer in the hundreds of restaurants. If it takes your fancy, you can even cycle all the way to Jerusalem on the pan-Israel cycle way, stopping off in Latrun at the old British Military base.
If you come in the winter and you are lucky, you might even be able to ski at Mt Hermon or if you fancy snorkelling you can also do that in Eilat, in the south of Israel! Although Israel looks no bigger than the head of a pin on a map, it really does pack a punch!
