I’ve been a frequent customer of Holiday Autos and in this article I will explain how to use the Holiday Autos car hire website. The first time I used Holiday Autos was after I read about them in the Guardian and it helped me find some pretty good deals over the years.
Since it’s a pretty decent company I thought I would explain everyone else how to use Holiday Autos to book a car, so you can take advantage of the great deals without stressing too much! I decided to write this article after I met an American guy in Marrakesh who complained that he had a bad experience with Holiday Autos.
When we met I explained to him that Holiday Autos compares and gives a list of suppliers that are best suited for his car hire needs. I have been renting with Holiday Autos for years without any problems so we ended up chatting about his hire car and what went wrong. After our chat I figured it might be a good idea to write up these instructions so others will be able to learn how to use the Holiday Autos website. So here it is!
Using The Holiday Autos Website
Holiday Autos operates a websites which comes with an easy-to-use platform, containing various filters and options. On the Holiday Autos home page you enter your destination, dates and pick-up times as well as your age then hit search.
It is very important that you select the exact time of the day when you are picking up or dropping off the car. As Holiday Autos is a comparison website, they will recommend the best suppliers based on your request and of course, not all suppliers are open at the same time of the day. So be sure to pay special attention to this.
On the following page on the Holiday Autos website you can sort by price, recommended or rating. Also, on the left hand side are various options to choose from, they are:
- Pick-up Location
- Supplier
- Customer Rating
- Fuel Policy
- Mileage Allowance
- Car Specifications
- Transmission
- Special Offers
I always tick “unlimited mileage” and “full to full” fuel policy. I also sometimes filter by customer rating and automatic or manual to see how the price changes.
Holiday Autos Currency And Other Settings
At the top right of the screen you can choose which currency to use and which geographic region you are in. You can also manage any existing bookings or ask for help. Holiday Autos also has a blog with various posts to inspire you for your next destination.
If you book frequently, I would also recommend joining their Loyalty Programme called My Account. Once you join you can get discounts right away and the more bookings you make, the more discounts you can accumulate. You will gain access to a dashboard where you can see all your past and current booking information as well.
Changing Your Search Details With Holiday Autos
If you decide you want to change the date or pick up time, navigate to the top left of the screen. Here you can hit “Edit” and alter the dates and times.
Holiday Autos Rental Car Types
Just above the search results on the Holiday Autos page you will see various car types such as mini, compact, economy and so on. So you can scroll left or right to pick those you need. Once you have clicked it will filter the results for you.
Once you have set all the required filters and setting you can either go ahead and click “select” or email the quote to yourself.
The search result will tell you the car type (or similar), how many people can fit inside with luggage and how many doors the car has.
It will also tell you about the transmission, pick up location, fuel policy and mileage allowance. On the right you will also find what is included in your booking for free. These usually refer to the insurance policy or cancellation and any changes.
Important Information
Make sure you click on the “Important Information” button before you book the car and read the small print! You might think it takes ages but it can save you a huge amount of time. Holiday Autos also sorted them into easily understandable categories so just give it 10-15 minutes and then if you are happy go ahead and book the car.

On the next page you can pick whether you want excess insurance or not and here you can also pick any additional extras. They include:
- Additional Driver
- GPS
- Child toddler seat
- Booster Seat
Entering Your Details
Fill out your details and decide whether you want to receive newsletters or not. If not, there is a tick box at the bottom of the page to opt out.
Holiday Autos Payment Details
On the following screen you will need to enter your credit card details and tick the box to agree to the terms and conditions. Make sure you read this before you agree!!! I cannot stress this enough!
Once you are happy just go ahead and click “Book Now”.
Nothing To Worry About
The best is that Holiday Autos has a generous cancellation policy so in most cases you can cancel up until a day or two before the actual pick-up date. But check the cancellation policy details in advance as they can vary from car to car.
